Create contact

An authorized user creates a new Contact, linked to an existing Company or to none (an individual customer).

When this happens: You click New Contact from Contact list, global + menu, or from a Company detail page's related Contacts section.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Click New Contact.

EasyCRM shows the Create Contact form: First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, Job Title, Department, Company (lookup, optional: Leave empty for an individual customer), Lifecycle Stage, Owner (default: current user), Consent Given, and custom fields. If launched from a Company page, Company is pre-filled.

  2. 2

Fill in required fields (First Name, Last Name) and optional fields, the Company among them.

  3. 3

    Click Save.

EasyCRM checks inputs: names 1–100 chars; email valid format if provided; required custom fields populated. EasyCRM checks email uniqueness within the selected Company, when one is selected: no other active contact with the same email in this Company. EasyCRM runs duplicate detection: the same email or name in the selected Company — or, with no Company, the same email on any Contact and the same name among the individual customers — and the same phone or mobile phone on any Contact. No duplicates found — creates the Contact record. EasyCRM takes you to Contact detail page. Toast: Contact created successfully.

Other paths

Possible duplicate detected

If a possible duplicate is found. EasyCRM shows a warning listing each one with its email, phone, mobile phone and Company (masked when it is one you may not open), the reason it matched (Same email, Same phone, Same name) and an Open link: A contact that may be the same customer already exists. Do you want to continue? Click Create anyway to continue. Or clicks Cancel — form remains open.

Contact without email

If email is blank. EasyCRM flags the record as incomplete internally. Flow continues from step 8 — creation is allowed. On the Contact detail page, an Incomplete badge is displayed: Email address is missing

Created from company detail page

Click Add Contact on a Company detail page. EasyCRM opens the Create Contact form with Company pre-filled and read-only. Flow continues from step 3.

Consent provided

Checks the Consent Given checkbox during creation. If sets.

Individual customer

Save the form with the Company left empty (or set to No company). EasyCRM creates the Contact without a Company: an individual customer. Every other rule of this use case applies unchanged.

If something goes wrong

Duplicate email within same company

If another active Contact in the same Company has this email. EasyCRM shows an error: A contact with this email already exists in [CompanyName] Creation is blocked.

Company not found

If the selected Company ID is invalid or was deleted between page load and save. EasyCRM shows: The selected company no longer exists. Please select a different company

Good to know

  • A Contact belongs to one Company or to none; one with none is an individual customer.
  • Email must be unique within a Company (blocked), but duplicate warnings across companies are non-blocking.
  • Contact without email is allowed but flagged as incomplete.
  • Consent fields should be populated at creation when known.
