Identify the facebook user, record the originating page and create or associate the profile
The system resolves an inbound message's Page-Scoped ID to a Contact, records which of the company's Pages it belongs to, and creates a Contact when none exists.
When this happens: UC-18.5 step 4.
How it works
- Looks up a
ContactChannelIdentitywithMessengerPsid, matchingValueandChannelConnectionId(the Page). - No match found — calls Messenger's user-profile lookup for the PSID to obtain name and profile picture.
- EasyCRM creates a new Contact seeded from that profile data, and a
ContactChannelIdentitylinking it to the PSID and the originating Page. - Attaches the inbound message's conversation to the new Contact, and shows the originating Page on the conversation header.
Other paths
Known identity, different page
The Contact already has a Messenger identity from a different connected Page. A second, independent ContactChannelIdentity is created for this Page — the two PSIDs are never assumed to be the same person's identity on the other Page without a matching reliable identifier.
If something goes wrong
Profile lookup fails
Messenger's profile lookup fails or returns no data. A Contact is still created, seeded from the PSID alone (no display name) — the message is never dropped for lack of profile enrichment.
Good to know
- Association uses only the reliable PSID identifier — never display name or avatar alone. (FR-18-007, BRD §3.8)
- The PSID is scoped to the Page that received it; the originating Page is always recorded and shown.
