Attribute social engagement to campaign

The system aggregates inbound mentions, outbound posts, social leads and engagement metrics (impressions, likes, comments, shares, link clicks) against a linked Campaign so marketing can measure ROI. A you can also attribute mentions to a Campaign by hand.

When this happens: (A) Hourly rollup job. (B) A you open the Campaign page.

Step by step

  1. 1

Open Campaign — Social tab and sees mentions and the sentiment trend, each post's latest numbers and the total, and the attributed leads, MQLs, opportunities, revenue and cost per lead.

SocialMetricsRollupJob (hourly) reads each published copy of the posts linked to an Active Campaign from its network, per account in batches, and writes a SocialPostMetricsSnapshot (one per copy per hour). On opening the Campaign, counts the mentions attributed to it and aggregates them by sentiment and by day (by week beyond 92 days). Counts the Campaign's Leads whose source is Social:<provider> or SocialAd:<placement>, the MQLs among them (score at or above the MQL threshold), the Opportunities they converted to, the revenue won, the click-through rate (link clicks over impressions, across posts reporting both) and the cost per lead (the Campaign's actual cost over its social leads).

Other paths

Manual attribution of mentions

With EasyCrm.SocialCrm.ManageRules, in the Social inbox ticks the checkboxes of mentions (1 – 100) and clicks Attribute to campaign. Pick a Campaign they can see, or none to take the attribution off. Only matched mentions change; each change is audited SocialMentionAttributed, and the Campaign's tab includes them. May filter the inbox by Campaign to see them.

If something goes wrong

A network rate-limits or reports less

A network that rate-limits is held through the provider throttle and its posts are read next hour. A number a network does not report (YouTube's shares and clicks, Instagram and TikTok's link clicks) stays empty, and views count as impressions where the network counts views.

Good to know

  • A second read in the same hour overwrites that hour's snapshot (last-write-wins, a 1-hour cadence).
  • Historical snapshots are retained for 13 months for year-over-year comparisons.
  • Only posts linked to an Active Campaign are read.
