Connect an instagram account

The Owner connects the company's Instagram professional account — directly via Business Login for Instagram, or through a Facebook Page it is linked to — so customer Direct Messages arrive in the shared Inbox.

When this happens: Owner opens Channel Administration — Connect Instagram Account.

Step by step

    Open /admin/channels and clicks Connect Instagram Account.

    Offers the configured paths; Owner selects Business Login for Instagram. EasyCRM takes you to Instagram's authorization screen with PKCE and the scopes instagram_business_basic, instagram_business_manage_messages.

    Signs in to Instagram and grants consent.

    EasyCRM takes you back with an authorization code. Exchanges the code, verifies the account is a Business or Creator professional account, and creates the ChannelConnection with ExternalAccountId = the Instagram-scoped business account id and DisplayIdentifier = @handle. Subscribes the account to the messages webhook field and shows Connected as *@brand.shop*.

Other paths

Connect through a linked facebook page

At step 2 selects Instagram API with Facebook Login and authorizes the companys Facebook Page (`pages_show_list`, `pages_manage_metadata`) plus the Instagram messaging permission on that Pages linked account. Beyond messaging, the consent also asks the Social CRM's publishing and insights scopes — Business Login instagram_business_content_publish and instagram_business_manage_insights, Facebook Login instagram_content_publish and instagram_manage_insights (UC-13.8, UC-13.9); an account connected before must be reconnected for publishing. Resolves the Page's linked Instagram professional account and creates the ChannelConnection with Settings.authPath = **FacebookLogin** and Settings.linkedPageId set.

If something goes wrong

Account is not a professional account

At step 6 the account resolves to a personal Instagram account. Rejects with This account isn't a Business or Creator account — convert it in Instagram settings first, linking to Meta's guidance. No connection is created.

Page has no linked instagram account

At the selected Page has no linked Instagram professional account. EasyCRM shows This Page has no linked Instagram professional account and the Page cannot be selected.

Good to know

  • Only a Business or Creator professional account can be connected; personal accounts are rejected.
  • Only the Owner may start a new Instagram connection.
  • A company may connect an account through either path; both produce the same ChannelConnection shape.
