Configure the visitor identification form and which fields are mandatory

An Admin decides which profile fields a visitor is asked for — beyond Email (present and mandatory by default) — and whether each is mandatory, and whether the form appears before or after the visitor's first message.

When this happens: Admin opens the widget's Identification Form tab.

Step by step

  1. 1

Open Admin — Live Chat — [Widget] — Identification Form.

EasyCRM shows Email (mandatory by default; it can be made optional but not removed) and Name (optional by default), plus an Add field picker (Name, Phone, Company, active custom fields) and a When shown toggle (Before first message / After first message).

  2. 2

Add Name (mandatory) and Phone (optional), sets When shown to *After first message*.

  3. 3

    Click Save.

EasyCRM saves the form definition; records LiveChatIdentificationFormChanged.

Other paths

Add a custom field

Add the custom field Account type (defined per UC-12.1) to the form as optional.

If something goes wrong

Attempt to remove or un-mandate email

Email is shown locked in the field list — no remove or optional control is offered for it.

Good to know

  • Email is always present and mandatory by default; an Admin may make it optional, and a visitor who skips it stays under a temporary identifier until identified.
  • Deactivating a custom field removes it from new identification forms but not from values already collected.
